DEMENTIA SPORTS CAFE

Dementia mainly affects people over the age of 65 (one in 14 people in this age group have Dementia), and the likelihood of developing Dementia* increases significantly with age. However, Dementia can affect younger people too. There are more than 42,000 people in the UK under 65 with Dementia.

With our strong, local connections we regularly get visits from PAT dogs which is a very popular event.

The Dementia Sports Cafe is FREE OF CHARGE and hosted at Sixways Stadium every Wednesday 10:30-12:30.

AN AWARD WINNING CAFE

Our award-winning Dementia Sports Café is a completely unique style of support for those living with Dementia. It has been so successful we are now a referral pathway for the NHS. The café runs weekly and offers the usual tea, coffee and biscuits with tables and seating for chatting, communication and table top games.

Our main attraction is the fun aspect of our Dementia Café in simple terms its basically a youth centre for people living with Dementia and their families. We offer all kinds of fun sports for participants who may be chair bound to those more able. It’s a place for participants to attend with their family members and create new memories in a fun environment that kids and grandkids can also take part in. We run Cricket, Football, Walking Rugby, Botcha, Bowls and much more including Chair Sports. We have around 15-20 games every week available in a safe environment for people to have a go at. The other thing the café supports is the carers or close family.

We can also offer respite time and support for carers where they can share experiences and offer mutual support for people who know the journey they are going through.
